"A Blogger Dinner ~ Turkey Chop"

As most of you know my friend and I opened a no beef no pork gourmet grill back in June. Last night we held our "Unveiling of Turkey Chop" blogger dinner where we invited different food/lifestyle bloggers and magazine writers.
Turkey Chop is located at 624 Southside Commercial Parkway in Jonesboro, Georgia. All of the items on our menu are chicken, turkey, fish, or vegetarian.

For dinner we served our guests two of our signature items, The Honey Q'd Turkey Tips, and our Smothered Turkey Chop. We are innovators of both of these items along with the Turkey Short Ribs, and New York Turkey Steak.

Social media at it's best.

Our PR staff from Sky at Twelve Media , myself and my co-owner/BFF/soror/sister.... Ok on to the fashion since this is a personal style blog after all right....LOL.
I am happy that the weather has changed because I FINALLY got a chance to wear this vintage Neiman Marcus dress that I found at my favorite consignment shop about a month a go. A blessing from the fashion Gods indeed seeing as it is not only a size 10 (whoop) but it was brand spanking new. It still had the original price tags on it and everything!!!!!! Now if I can get these hips in a size 10 pair of jeans I will be home free...LOL. I wish I could've gotten a better picture of the studded and rhinestone details on the collar and sleeve. The dress is truly amazing!

Ok back to restaurant business........

We have awesome daily specials and as you see we even sell our signature items raw by the pound for you to take home and prepare. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, why not add some variety to to your menu?

Instead of carbonated drinks we serve four signature drinks that are made fresh daily, Iced Tea, Peach Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Jamaican Punch, and our Obama and First Lady drink.

"Polka Dots"

One thing I love about blogging and following other bloggers is the fashion inspiration. I see so many great ideas and images that really help me be more creative in remixing items that I have in my closet. Something that I have been trying to do lately is being more bold with prints and patterns during the fall and winter. As I already shared with you, during these seasons I get stuck in a rut of black and white, and black, black and more black...ugh!
I recently purchased this sweater from Forever 21. I was just going to throw it on with a white tank top underneath, but decided to be a more fun and layer it with another polka dot blouse and scarf that I've had forever.
Did I mention how much I am in love with Jeffery Campbell's shoes?? I am already thinking about what new color Lita I want to add to my collection for fall.

"Menswear Chic in the City"

This weekend I attended an event hosted by a new group I joined here in Atlanta called Blog Fab Fashionistas. It was an great networking event that was held at Bou Chic Boutique in East Atlanta.
The theme for the night was "Sex in the City" which was perfect because  like most of you ladies it is my favorite series/movie of all time!!!!! Personally it is my fashion bible....church!
My look for the night was menswear chic inspired by Miranda Hobbs. My three other friends of 13+ years and I have nicknamed our crew "Sex in the City" so I just stayed with my assigned character.
And of course there were Cosmopolitans......
As you see I am towering over by girl NeShanta from Style is She. Hands down the best "Carrie" of the night.

I had a great time and met a wonderful group of ladies. I definitely can't wait until the next event! To all my Sex in the City fans, which character inspired you the most?

"Fancy Friday" ~ Happy Feet

To add some variety I decided to change my original "Fancy Friday" idea. Instead of recreating outfits of pictures you send in Fancy Fridays post will be a garden variety of different topics. I will have my favorite recipes, different features, and trending posts that will in some way be food for your fashion soul...LOL. Today I wanted to share with you a couple of my high heel pain releaving secrets.
My first must have are these AMAAAAAAZING insoles made by Dr. Scholls. Like most of you ladies the pain that we start to experience half way through the night is at the ball of our feet. Nothing will ruin your night quicker than the balls of your feet feeling like they are on fire! These plush insoles have saved my life. They come in one size, but are made so that you can trim them down to the size you need.
I have Dr. Scholl's insoles in all four of these shoes. These insoles allow me to wear these shoes for hours without any discomfort. I am extremely flat footed so these insoles are a life saver in ALL my shoes.
The second item that I have in my high heel tool box are Moleskin padding also known as second skin. I use second skin to prevent getting corns and to prevent the small one that I have from getting any bigger. I simply cut a small piece and wrap them around my two end toes on both of my feet. This provides a protective covering on your skin for when you shoes start to rub at the end of the night.
I wear high heels 75% of the time, so comfort is extremely important to me. One thing that I realized is no matter how comfortable the shoe is at the beginning of the night. After walking or dancing for a few hours, my feet begin to naturally swell (it happens in tennis shoes as well) causing them to sometimes begin rubbing against my shoe. This second skin is a life saver!!!

I hope this info was helpful to you ladies. What are some the remedies you use to make walking in platforms and high heels less painful??

"Sunday Flow"

I had to work all weekend, so like many of us Sunday was used as my catch up, errand running day. I wanted to be super comfortable so I threw on this dipped hem cotton dress that I bought while I was in NYC. The dress is beyond comfortable and worth the ten bucks I paid for it...LOL.
I paired it with a leather jacket, my wedge sneaks, and added my Gazelle frames to accessorize it. I LOVE wearing sneakers with dresses and skirts. I used to think it looked awkward, but it is now may favorite thing to do. I will throw on a pair of Chucks or Vans with a dress or skirt anytime.
I am in love with my new wedge sneakers. I have an orange and tan pair that I first HERE.

"NYC"

Here are the rest of my NYC trip pictures that I want to share with you. Sorry for the delay, but it has been an extremely hectic week since returning. I captured this shot of Lady Liberty when my friends and I went to Staten Island on a ferry ride.
While walking to catch the ferry I decided to put my brave girl panties on and have an one on one moment with this Boa....you only live once right???.....LOL

Dinner in Little Italy was awesome; the ambiance, food, weather...everything was perfect! The Lobster Ravioli (bottom) and Watermelon Martinis was the best I ever tasted.

We had a chance to visit the 911 memorial site, which was absolutely beautiful. It was so surreal to be back at the site where the attack took place. Although there are hundreds of people touring the site when you stand near the waterfalls it was so quite and peaceful. It is as if all the background noise silences. The "survivor tree" was the ONLY tree that was standing after the attack. I thought that this was pretty amazing.

As much as I like LOVE to shop, I did very little on this trip **gasp** ...LOL. I picked up a couple of cute pieces here and in Soho, but that was it. I am just one of those people who have to be in the mood to shop, and for some reason I just wasn't this trip.

Ok seriously how dope is my besties frohawk?? When it comes to natural hair she is the messiah..hands down! You can check out her personal style and hair blog at Qrush Velvet.com
