"Inspired Celebrity Look- Solange Knowles"

In Lieu of me recreating a look from a celebrity this month, I decided to share with you some beautiful pictures of Solange Knowles. I have always been a fan of her music, but recently she has become one of my top five fashion inspirations.
I love how her style is the perfect combination of classic chic and funky. She mixes patterns , prints and colors effortlessly.
Check out the inspired look I did with her sister Beyonce'  here. Previous celebrity inspired looks I recreated can be seen here, here, and here .

More awesome pictures can be seen on the new blog Solange created called My Damn Blog. It is one of my daily reads!

"Kimono Sunday"

I snapped pictures of this kimono style dress to church on Sunday. Lately I have been trying to make a conscience effort to wear the clothes that I have in my four..(yes four) closets and to not buy anything new for at least a month. Doug says that I am a clothes hoarder, and at first I was offended when he said it, but the more I think about it, he may be right.
I bought this dress from Victoria's Secret about three years ago and the last time I wore it was in 2009 when I went to my school's homecoming. It is so comfortable and I am still in love with the length and flow of the dress.
I paired it with my coral Betsey Johnson pumps that I first wore here.

"At the Crossroads"

I finally got a chance to wear my thrifted dress that I shared with you ladies here .
I will have to admit that I am patting myself on the back for turning this $4.29 dress into something wonderful!
This "Don't get the Blues" color from OPI is one of my favorites, next to Essie's " Mint Candy Apple"
I am so in love with the pattern and colors in this dress. The options are limitless.

Shoes: Jessica Simpson also seen here , in pink here
Belt: Gifted from my bestie Qrush Velvet and seen here

"Inspired- Men's Fashion"

Since I am such a fashion junkie, I felt obligated to share with you some of the men images that I have fallen in  love with. These guys definitely inspire me and make me want to step my game up!
I LOVE how he did a double mixture of patterns with the purple and the suit.
The Arglye socks are a statement alone, but here they are even a bigger statement when combined with suits that are no where on the same color scheme as the socks.... LOVE IT!
As you can probably tell I love a "gentleman"
Love the old school MGM bag and cane.
I had to include Scott Disick. His style is impeccable, if I was a man, I think I would exactly like him.
All eight of these guys are so individual and fly, It was hard to choose which one I liked the most, but I think the gentleman with the rainboots and pink shirt is the one!

So what do you ladies think? Did these gentlemen inspire you to mix and match and think outside the box  the way they did me?  Which one was your favorite?

"Silk Flowers"

Even though I've lived in Atlanta for almost six years last weekend was my first time going to the Botanical Gardens. The weather was perfect and Dougie was able to get some cool shots for his photography portfolio. I swear it really is a bloggers dream to date someone who does photography as a hobby......LOL.
I wore a silk jumpsuit that I have had FOREVER! Since it wasn't too hot of a day I was able to get one more wear out of it before I packed it away for the season. I usually dress it up with heels, but opted to make it more casual this day.
The garden was really beautiful. I really just enjoyed the weather, walking around, and scenery.
And of course...the phone....LOL
I am loving my new neon sandals, and they are definitely going to me be my go to shoe this summer.
Are you ladies feeling the neon summer trend???

Jumpsuit: Victoria Secret (very old)
Sandals: Dolce Vita via local boutique but found here
Necklace: Forever 21
Bracelet: H&M

"Python"

Happy Monday Curvies! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Even though my weekend was low key it went by way too fast. I snapped a couple of pictures of what I wore to church on yesterday.
I still have birthday gift cards left so I stopped by H&M on Friday and found these pieces. The entire outfit is super comfortable and can be dressed up or down. Since the blouse is kind of see through I wore my favorite bustle back blazer also worn here.
I added my Chanel and snake brooches first seen here.
Bright colors and prints are definitely my thing, and I will probably add more color and create a "jumpsuit" effect the next time I wear these pieces.
Top, Pants and Purse: H&M

Blazer: Calvin Klein via TJ Maxx
Brooches: Thrifted.

"Trayvon Martin"

In light of the new developments in the Trayvon Martin case I felt compelled to do a post about my feelings on the case and to share some of the pictures that I took when Sam and I went to a peace rally a couple weeks ago. I am not going to dwell on the anger and sadness that I have regarding this case, but instead focus on the bigger picture; combating negative stereotypes. Trayvon was killed because of George Zimmerman's  negative stereotype of a" young black male in a hoodie ", which lead to an unnecessary fear that caused him to react impulsively. The end result was the death of an innocent teenager.
What is Justice for Trayvon?
Revenge? Peace? Change? An arrest?

I am aware that this is not typical "personal style blog" material, but I wanted to use the small platform that I have to try and spread the word on how we need to challenge how we think and act. What can we do to combat negative sterotypes? Your thoughts?

"Birthday"

I finally uploaded the pictures that I took when I was in Houston for my birthday. I have been trying to play catch up for the past two weeks, so my schedule has been pretty crazy.
As you all already know I am a certified thrift store junkie. When you find pieces like this, you can see why I get such a high when I go. I found this dress months ago and have wore it to church a couple of times, but decided to change the look so I took it to my alterations lady and had her make it into a sexy mini dress. Thrifting advice I first gave here .
It was pure fashion coincidence that these earrings that I purchased from badacious.com months ago matched perfectly!! The earrings that they design are sick! You can see another pair that I wore here .
The food and wonderful desserts were delicious
Always, always always on the phone...smh
My BFF's
"Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie" 13 years strong!

I had an AWESOME time!!!!  I swear God has really blessed me with an amazing group of friends.
